Session 9: Hands-on practice

Project development:

• Expand and refine the initial set of research questions, or
• Identify some queries that you think are provocative and sketch out what you think they might tell you about your corpus
• Gather more data to support your preliminary conclusions
• Articulate how your results help to answer the research questions you’ve developed, making explicit the connections between the data you’ve collected and the support it offers/progress it makes toward your research question
• Sketch out a plan for the future steps in the project (improvements to data, potential comparisons with other corpora, additional approaches to try, etc.)
• Make some notes for a critical bibliography around your research question
