Session 14: Small group testing and discussion

Working as a group or individually, pick an assignment/activity from our growing inventory and take about 20 minutes to test it out:

• Walk through it as if you were a student
• Annotate the assignment from a potential student’s perspective: what needs more explanation? Where are things over-specified?
• How much time would it actually take to complete? Are there ways to make the assignment more substantive, or more streamlined?

Take the last 10 minutes of this session to briefly share ideas and make notes in the shared notes document about:

• How does actually working through the assignment shift your sense of how this tool works in a classroom setting?
• What are some next steps for you, concretely, in developing assignments you can actually use?
• What are the areas you still feel you need more information?
